Event description:

Target Participants:

  • Professionals who are tasked with managing projects (industry independent) that involve multiple people from different disciplines.
  • Project Managers, Process Engineers, Managers, Plant Managers, Account Managers, and anyone involved with managing tasks or projects on a day-to-day basis.

Learning Objectives:

  • To create understanding of the project management process as prescribed by the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • To reinforce the application of the project management process specifically to real / live client projects by creating key deliverables (e.g. Project Schedule, Stage Gate Review, Status Reports) for those projects
  • To understand the expectations and duties of key roles in the process, including the Project Manager, the Decision Team/Sponsor, and other key roles throughout the project lifecycle
  • See detailed course outline below

Learning Tools

  • Participants will work on exercises independently, but share learning as a group. Participants will be asked to come to the session ready to work on a project in which they are involved that has either recently started, or is planned to begin in the very near future. For instances where that is not possible, a case study will be provided.
  • Participants will receive a “Project Manager Workbook”, which is a multi-tabbed EXCEL workbook with templates for every tool covered in class (plus some extras).

A laptop with Microsoft Excel could be helpful, but is not a necessity. Each participant will receive a multi-tabbed Excel workbook with templates, but exercises can be worked manually in class as well.
