Scott Wolf has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, machining, and training. His training specialties include: Manufacturing and Quality Engineering, CNC Machining, Blueprint Reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Event description:

CNC Fundamentals
This course is designed to provide basic CNC operating principles to students interested
in pursuing a career in CNC machining. This also provides a nice refresher for entry level
CNC operators.

Course Outline:
• Introduction to numerical control machinery, the system components and the history of
numerical control.
• The Cartesian coordinate system and how it translates into a CNC tool path.
• Creating a logical manufacturing process.
• Linear and circular interpolation; plotting and understanding the tool path.
• The alphabet of CNC codes; applying codes properly to make a part.
• Using proper formatting techniques and standardization in generating a CNC program.
• Understanding manufacturing concepts: feeds, speeds, materials, geometric
relationships, metrology.
